PANOPTO
2019

Panopto is a triptych of light boxes, drawing on elements from my personal experience of teaching. The work interrogates the academic environment and the technological applications that transform educational processes. The increase in the use of technology in higher education advocates for a higher level of exposure and observance. In the images the institutional space of the classroom and courtyard acquires a transitional, distanced, even alienating sense. Panopto is the brand name of a digital platform that facilitates recording and live streaming of lectures and presentations, addressed primarily to businesses and educational institutions.

Panopto was created on the occasion of the
Overview Effect exhibition organized by Thessaloniki International Film Festival which invited 14 Greek artists to watch the films of the IC section and create original works for each one of them, I was invited to watch Wet Season, 2019, dir. Anthony Chen.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki (MOMus).
